Joshua Jefferies is a fourth-year from Brooklyn, NY, studying Commerce with concentrations in Finance and Information Technology. This past summer he worked at Goldman Sachs in Washington, D.C., as a Capital Markets & Private Wealth Management Analyst in the firm’s Asset & Wealth Management division. Following his internship, he received a full-time offer and will be joining Goldman Sachs after graduation.

Josh’s interest in finance began in high school, when he started a sneaker business focused on buying, selling, and marketing high-demand footwear. He used his profits to invest in the stock market, sparking a passion that has shaped his academic and professional journey. Today, that same passion drives him as he leads BlackFin and works to expand opportunities for underrepresented communities in finance.

Ahmed Abugabal

Vice President

Ahmed Abugabal is a fourth-year from Chantilly, VA, studying Commerce with concentrations in Management and Information Technology on the Global Commerce Track. This past summer, he worked at Booz Allen Hamilton as a Summer Management Consultant. Upon graduation, he plans to return to Booz Allen Hamilton as a Consultant for their Commercial Resilience team, pending other opportunities.

Ahmed transitioned into Management Consulting after beginning his first year on a pre-medical track, ultimately seeking to enter the world of strategy. He has a strong interest in international business, fueled by his curiosity about the intersection of strategy, geopolitics, and motivational psychology. This passion has also driven his work in growing BlackFin and sharing his experiences to help marginalized communities break into the finance and consulting industries.

Hamdael Eslaquit

Chief Investment Officer

Hamdael Eslaquit is a third-year from Lorton, VA, studying Commerce with a concentration in Finance. This past summer, he worked at the University of Virginia Investment Management Company (UVIMCO) as an Investment Analyst Intern, where he evaluated fund managers across six asset classes, collaborated with senior investors to draft investment committee memos, and designed a framework to measure the portfolio’s AI exposure across public and private equity strategies. Next summer, he will join Bank of America in New York as an Investment Banking Summer Analyst.

Hamdael’s interest in finance began during the COVID-19 pandemic, when he started trading stocks in a custodial account. What began as curiosity grew into a passion for markets, investing, and understanding the forces that drive business and the economy. At UVA, he serves as Co-President of OneGeneration Network, Student Representative on UVIMCO’s Board on Investor Responsibility, and as a member of Interim President Paul G. Mahoney’s Student Advisory Council. Across these roles, Hamdael is committed to mentorship, leadership, and expanding access to opportunities for underrepresented students pursuing careers in business and finance.
